Controversial Dehradun Road Project Faces High Court Delay Amid Displacement Concerns

A significant infrastructure project in Dehradun, the ambitious ₹6,500 crore Rispana-Bindal elevated road, has encountered a legal hurdle. The Uttarakhand High Court on August 14 deferred the public hearing for the project until August 25, responding to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by a local foundation. The PIL articulates grave concerns over the potential displacement of thousands of slum dwellers and the irreversible ecological damage that could result from the project, bringing a critical urban development plan under judicial review.
