Karnataka Streamlines Land Use for MSMEs and Renewable Energy
The Karnataka Legislative Assembly has passed the Karnataka Land Reforms and Certain Other Law (Amendment) Bill, aiming to significantly ease the conversion of agricultural land for industrial and renewable energy purposes. This landmark legislation allows agricultural land up to two acres to be used for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) without requiring prior Deputy Commissioner permission. The bill also removes the need for land conversion for renewable energy projects, a move expected to spur growth in clean energy generation and reduce bureaucratic red tape for entrepreneurs across the state.
