Jharkhand Launches Ambitious Green Drive, Plants Millions of Fruit Trees

Jharkhand is embarking on a monumental environmental and economic initiative, planting crores of fruit-bearing trees across the state. This ambitious ‘green push’ aims to not only significantly expand forest cover, which currently stands at approximately 28% of the state’s geographical area, but also to provide sustainable alternative income sources for rural communities. The program, diversifying beyond mangoes to include guava, lemon, and pear, has already seen over 2.17 crore saplings planted, transforming vast tracts of fallow land. [27]
