Uttarakhand Monsoons: 245 Villages Ravaged, ₹111 Crore Expended on Rehabilitation
DEHRADUN, Uttarakhand: The annual monsoon season continues to unleash its fury on Uttarakhand, leaving a trail of devastation that has displaced thousands and ravaged numerous communities. Over the past 14 years, a staggering 245 villages have been lost to landslides, floods, and cloudbursts, equating to an average of 17 villages annually. The state government has already expended more than ₹111 crore on displacement and rehabilitation efforts, working to relocate over 2,600 affected families. With a significant budgetary provision for the current fiscal year, authorities are grappling with the immense and recurring challenge of natural calamities. [3]
